freshman year at university of southern california
lived in the dorms
roommate was from new jersey
we lived next door to two of his high school friends
felt very socially anxious, seemed obvious i was 'the odd-man out'
two DJs who eventually started a significant, underground, ironic, 'this is not a rave', EDM collective, and a girl who used to be cool but is currently 'big' in the cosplay/comi-con blogging 'scene' entered my dorm looking for a rapper who lived on my floor
the rapper wasn't home, i told them i did music, played them a beat i produced/recorded that had me rapping in it, it used the theme from 'mighty mouse' as a sample
they said they liked it, invited me to pick up edibles w them
went with them to dorm across campus, bought brownies
was my first time doing edibles, ate an entire brownie immediately
hung out drinking/smoking for ~30min
felt socially awkward
group, including dealer, dispersed to do various things
left dorm, walked around the quad, rapidly became very high
purchased iced coffee, suddenly felt overwhelmingly high
went to dorm, slept ~3hrs
neighbor from jersey had just bought/assembled a vaporizer
went to his room, still very high, smoked a little, fucked up the weed by inhaling too much
watched jersey boys play a sports-related videogame probably
felt extreme social anxiety, went to my room, listened to joni michelle's 'blue' for the first time
cried quietly

2008
sophomore year at university of southern california
worked at masa chicago-style pizzeria in echo park, los angeles, ~5hrs
coworker drove me home, we smoked marijuana from a pipe in her car
i met up with friends who were freshman, smoked a blunt on the top floor of their dorm
took a cab with freshmen into downtown los angeles
attended 'this is not a rave' rave hosted by aforementioned DJs
drank an entire bottle of 'champagne'/sparkling cider
danced erratically
was offered/insufflated unknown amount of MDMA, possibly cocaine
was invited to smoke marijuana w unknown group of hippie-seeming kids
remember dancing to 'we are your friends' by justice, 'C.Y.O.A.' by heartsrevolution
danced w girl i met ~1wk prior for ~20min
took cab w girl to her apartment
did sex for the first time in my life

2009
had dropped out of college and recently broken up w my first girlfriend
walked around DC w cute french girl who was studying english at the university of maryland
walked along C&O canal
purchased a copy of 'mark twain's complete collected short stories' from an independent bookstore in georgetown
french girl and i smoked two joints on the bank of the potomac looking at the alexandria skyline
was very cold, river was still somewhat frozen
we walked to urban outfitters, saw t-shirt w obama's head on mount rushmore
vague memory of making fun of the t-shirt, laughing a lot, engaging in bizarre dialogue w mannequins
wanted to go home w girl, do sex, didn't, took train home
read hipster runoff ~2hrs

gf lived in an apartment complex two floors beneath drug dealer
hung out w drug dealer smoking from bong while he and friends played 'FIFA'

ordered alcohol from liquor delivery place

went to work at 'jason's deli' stoned/drunk for the first time

worked ~4hrs, got off early
worked on screenplay for 'dead midgets' ~2hrs
gf's male friend brought small amount of weed to her apartment

smoked/listened to them do 'girl talk' ~2hrs
gf's friend complained about a stripper he was engaged in a vague relationship with

friends living in nearby affluent neighborhood grew their own strain of marijuana over winter
went to their house w gf, gf's friend, watched 'curb your enthusiasm' ~2hrs while smoking
friends and i were in a band, had show coming up
gf went back to her apt w her friend while we rehearsed music in basement

smoked from a lead pipe nicknamed 'pipe the pipe made from actual pipe'
watched 'darjeeling ltd' while drinking
fell asleep on suitemate's beanbag
woke mid-night w 'darjeeling ltd' DVD menu on loop
moved to my room, felt restless for ~1hr, fell asleep
